Research & Consulting

GANS was formed in the early 1980s, and built as an organization to help genealogists. There was a demand in the early years for collectibles and research materials and, eventually, a research library where people could do their own research. As the organization developed, we started providing  support services to researchers, certifying Nova Scotia ancestries, and conducting large-scale research projects.

Our Research Library, our Education Programs, and the our array of Genealogical Datasets constitute our core services.  We think we are increasingly achieving an excellence in each of these areas.

Our arena for innovation, however, is our Research Services.  Our aspiration is to continue building a cluster of research talent and resources here as a "Genealogical Laboratory".

Part of that is providing a set of research query services for lookups, property research, and consulting that helps people with queries who are not close by.  The other part is building an interactive digital system for data search & retrieval, community lineages, and local history.  If you are within driving distance and this excites you, make contact to become involved and drive this forward at admin@novascotiaancestors.ca.
